The People Who Show Up
There is something powerful about the people who show up; not just in the highlight moments, but in the ordinary ones too.
At Oak & Seasons, community is more than just a concept because we believe that well-being is not a solo journey.
It is sustained and deepened by the people around us. Here’s what village means to us here:
Alyssa:
My village shows up in times of difficulty and in moments of joy with support, encouragement, and shared celebration. Knowing I have people who care and genuinely understand me helps me navigate. What I appreciate most is their curiosity, their real interest in learning about my experiences. That is what deepens the connection. I stay present by keeping an open line of communication checking in, sending a message, sharing updates. Even when life is busy or the distance is wide, that consistency matters.
Ayooluwa:
My village supports my well-being in various specific ways. They check on me. They can often tell when something is wrong through a text or a call before I have even said anything. They send me things they think would help. They call randomly. They feed me. And when I say I want to do something, anything, they encourage me, whether or not they fully understand it. To stay connected, I make sure we talk at least twice a week. It is a small habit, but it makes a difference for me.
Stephanie:
My village gives me a space where I feel genuinely encouraged and understood. My close friends remind me that I am not alone and having a prayer group keeps me grounded and hopeful . Together they give me the strength I need to keep going. I stay connected through simple, intentional conversations, taking the time to really listen and engage in their lives, even in small ways.
Jenn:
My village supports my well-being through encouragement, thoughtful care, and the comfort of knowing someone is truly there. Being around people who are intentional about becoming better versions of themselves and who support each other along the way, makes the journey more meaningful. Sharing laughter, common interests, and praying together does something for my soul. I have also learned that staying connected does not always require long conversations or frequent meetups. Different seasons call for different levels of connection. Sometimes it is as simple as letting someone know they are on your mind, sending a meme or several, and checking in to see how they are doing.
